About the book:
Not even her impending nuptials can keep Lucy Berberian, manager of her family-owned Kebab Kitchen, from the Jersey Shore’s annual Polar Bear Plunge. But her dive into the icy ocean is especially chilling when she finds a fellow swimmer doing the dead man’s float—for real . . . Who would kill a man in cold blood during Ocean Crest, New Jersey’s most popular winter event? When Lucy learns the victim is Deacon Spooner, the reception hall owner who turned up his nose—and his price—at her wedding plans, she can’t help wondering who wouldn’t kill the pompous caterer . . . Perhaps the culprit is the wedding cake baker whose career Deacon nearly destroyed? Or the angry bride whose reception he ruined? With her maid of honor, Katie, busily planning Lucy’s wedding without her, Lucy will have to get to the bottom of this cold-hearted business in time for Kebab Kitchen’s mouthwatering Christmas celebration—and before her hometown’s holiday spirit washes out to sea . . . Recipes included!
Mistletoe, Moussaka, and Murder by Tina Kashian is the fifth book in the cozy Kebab Kitchen Mystery series. Each book of this series centers around a different mystery so they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. However, there is character building that carries over from book to book for those that follow the series from the beginning.
At the center of this series is Lucy Berberian who decided to quit her job at a Philadelphia law firm and return to her hometown in Ocean Crest, New Jersey along the Jersey shore. Lucy is now helping in her family’s business, a Mediterranean restaurant known as the Kebab Kitchen. Lucy doesn’t mind jumping into the business as she enjoys being close to her family and her old friend, Katie.
Lucy is now excited that it’s time for Ocean Crest, New Jersey’s most popular winter event, the annual Polar Bear Plunge. Unfortunately for Lucy though, the excitement quickly dies out when taking her plunge she finds Deacon Spooner floating in the water having been murdered. Lucy however is not short on suspects as the reception hall owner seemed to have angered many a client and business associate.
The Kebab Kitchen Mystery series is another cozy series that I have followed since the beginning and while it’s not as over the top quirky as some that I love I do still find myself chuckling and enjoying the stories. Lucy and her family and friends have been characters that have grown on me with each book in the series. Book five seems to be the last and the Kebab Kitchen will be missed by this reader!
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
