About the book:

A grumpy single dad and a small-town bookseller find love again in this charming contemporary romance in Sarah Robinson’s Heart Lake series.

As chaotic as it can be, Rosie Dean loves her unruly life. But between raising twins alone, running her struggling bookshop, and secretly writing a parenting advice column, the single mom can’t think about dating. At least that’s what she tells herself . . . until her high school crush (and his incredible blue eyes) return to Heart Lake for the summer. Even though Evan has grown into a huge grump, he’s still a super sexy one, and soon sparks begin to fly.

Single dad and widower Evan Mills is used to hearing he’s too serious. But with a grieving tween daughter to raise on his own, the graphic designer is just trying to stay strong for her. He hopes a few weeks at the lake will be the fresh start they both need. Evan never anticipated reconnecting with Rosie, or that she could make him feel whole again—if he’d give her the chance. Will one steamy summer with Rosie be long enough to melt Evan’s heart?

The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane by Sarah Robinson is the second book in the contemporary romance Heart Lake series. As with a lot of romance series the setting is what tie the books together with the main characters changing from book to book. With all new characters these books can be read in any order or as a standalone novel if choosing to do so.

The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane is a grumpy/sunshine second chance story. Rosie Dean is a single mom raising twins on her own, running her bookstore and on top of all of that secretly writing a parenting advice column. With everything on her plate Rosie hasn’t given dating a second thought. One day however Rosie’s high school crush, Evan Mills, moves back into town in Heart Lake.

Evan is also a single parent after losing his wife leaving his to now raise his daughter on his own. Evan has been used to folks telling his he’s too serious so he’s hoping some time at the lake will help him and his daughter heal.

Having read both books in the Heart Lake series I can say I am really enjoying this small town with it’s charm and the characters within it. A second chance romance is usually one of my favorite tropes with characters sharing a history so getting to know one another doesn’t feel as rushed. Also, I’m always a sucker for a story involving children finding a new family in their happy ever after so wrap it all together this was one fun read.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
