The Last to See Her by Courtney Evan Tate is a thriller story. The format in this one is one that changes the point of view, mostly of that of the sisters, and also has flashes back to the past to help build the story.
Gen is about to get a divorce from her husband so when her sister, Meg, has a work trip scheduled to New York City Meg invites Gen to come along. The sisters arrive in NY and head out on the town to take Gen’s mind off of her problems and a few drinks are had.
After arriving back at the hotel both sisters are quite a bit tipsy but Gen is still stressed over her marriage and goes for a walk. Meg ends up falling asleep only to awaken to an empty room with Gen never having returned. Of course Meg brings the police in to find out just what happened to her sister that night in the city.
The Last to See Her is one of those stories that for me the characters weren’t particularly likable but I didn’t mind that as I became invested in their story. However, my lower rating for The Last to See Her was not because I wasn’t engaged in this story as I read it but because when finished I was left with questions. To me this book had a lot of holes left open during everything that happened that I just couldn’t find myself excited after finishing this one up. Due to those things I questioned I had to lower my rating for this one to two and a half stars.
