About the book:
About the series: Some say it’s magic, some say it’s love. Others credit the sea, sun and sand as the healing powers behind Sea View House. Does the truth really matter for the temporary residents of this special place? In the coastal town of Pilgrim Cove, strangers are welcomed, and everyone else takes a front row seat to watch a love story unfold. The series begins with HER LONG WALK HOME:
Rebecca Hart has her life together–great job, great friends and ready to run the Boston Marathon. Her life turns in an instant when she’d injured in the bombing.
Single dad and veterinarian, Adam Fielding, intends to remain a bachelor after being “abandoned” twice. Once by the love of his life and once by a second-best girlfriend.
When Rebecca arrives at Sea View House to recover, neither she not Adam is prepared to let the magic of the place affect them.
Will these two open their hearts and run toward a new finish line together?
Her Long Walk Home by Linda Barrett is the first book of the contemporary romance Sea View House series. This first book of the Sea View House series is a fictional romance that features actual real life events having the heroine a victim of the Boston Marathon bombing of 2013. While part of a series this is a full romance story that can be read as a standalone if choosing to so so with the next in the series changing the lead characters.
Rebecca Hart has just gotten out of the hospital and rehab after months of treatment and therapy after losing her leg while running the Boston marathon when the bombings took place. Looking for a place to rest and relax during the next phase of her recovery Rebecca ends up at the Sea View House.
Once moving into her temporary home all Rebecca wants is to be left alone and not have to deal with the pitying stares she’s come to expect. However, what Rebecca didn’t expect was meeting her new neighbor Adam Fielding and his daughter and finding herself enjoying getting to know them and becoming a part of their lives.
I think the author did a wonderful job with Her Long Walk Home showing just how a victim of such a horrific event would be feeling and struggling to find their normal once again. Rebecca has a honest feel to her with a myriad of other emotions that you would expect from a victim and Adam also seemed to be portrayed well with his baggage from his past.
The one thing really keeping my rating to 3 1/2 stars is probably the old novella curse that I felt there were things left unsaid here and there that could have used more depth a longer title would bring. Overall though definitely not too bad for a free e-book and I believe it’s still available if wanting to give it a try.
