EXCERPT:
A knock on the door disrupts my already unsteady hand. Shit. That’s a mess. “Just a minute.” I wipe my eyeliner clean with a wet tissue and answer the door.
Tom looks me over. He copies the tone I used earlier. “That’s what you’re wearing?”
“Is there something wrong with it?”
“It’s 90s night. You need color. Come on.” He steps into the room and crouches over the suitcase, pawing through my stuff. He tosses a navy mini skirt and a pink crop top on the bed. “That will be better.”
That will certainly be less. The top is minuscule and the skirt is barely long enough to cover my ass. “I don’t think so.”
“Try it.”
I shake my head.
He reaches for the bottom of my dress. “Don’t force me to remove your clothes.”
My heartbeat picks up.
“You have five seconds. Four.” He looks me in the eyes, daring me. “Three.”
I step backwards. “Okay. I’ll try it. Wait in the bathroom.”
“As you wish.” He does as he’s asked.
The room feels different without his presence. Colder. Less inviting. I change into the skimpy outfit as quickly as possible.
“Okay. You can come back.” I press my hands over my stomach as I check my reflection. I can’t wear this. It’s nothing.
Tom looks me up and down. All that smugness falls of his face. His eyes go wide. His lips part. “That’s no good.” He pulls my hands to my sides, his fingers brushing my exposed skin.
“Why?”
Tom traces the exposed skin on my side, from the top of my skirt to the bottom of my crop top. “Just change back.”
“Why.”
His cheeks flush. “It’s too sexy.”
He’s nervous.
“Change. Now.” He shifts towards the bathroom, his body brushing against mine.
He’s still close. Still warm. I reach for him, get the back pocket of his jeans. I need to say something. That I can be sexy if I want. That it doesn’t matter what Tom thinks.
Only it does. I want him to think I’m sexy.
“Tom.” My hand brushes against his hip. “I… I want to look sexy. You do. You always look desirable. Why can’t I do the same?”
I go to step back into some bold, confident pose, but my foot catches on the bedspread. Shit. I slip and fall backwards. My ass hits the bed. Then slides down to the
floor. Bam. I’m on my back, my legs spread. I press my hands into the ground to push myself up.
Tom’s gaze passes over me. It stops between my legs.
“Uh…” His eyes cloud with desire.
He watches me with rapt attention as I rise to my feet. At my thighs, my hips, my stomach. By the time he works his way to my eyes, I’m buzzing like a power line.
Touch me, please.
Throw me on that bed.
Kiss me.
Something.

Arranged by Julia Crane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
With Earth in ruins and the planet dying after a war that has lasted for more than a hundred years on the planet magical creatures of all kinds are trying to rebuild and replenish Earth. There is still a small resistance of humans that fight against magic being on their planet even though the human population is down to a small percentage of what it once had been and in danger of extinction.
Tulupea’s mother is the Queen of the Fae realm and had been on Earth trying to use her healing powers to rebuild the planet. She has come up with a plan along with an Earth scientist to create a superior race breeding a human and a fae through scientific methods. Tulupea of course wants to meet the human she is being volunteered to breed children with and soon finds herself falling for the strange human and fiercely wanting to protect him and the planet Earth.
Arranged got off to a somewhat slow start for me building up the setting, characters and world but once the story got going on Earth I was completely hooked on where the journey would take me. Being the first book in a series you are introduced to this dystopian setting and a small portion of the magic and creatures still left on the planet which had me quite intrigued with where it could all go.
Tulupea was a bit of a spoiled brat type of character in the beginning which may be a bit of a turn off for some. She is what she is though, a princess that has not known anything other than her world of comfort and quite headstrong as she has been raised to someday rule. I thought the author portrayed her just how she really should be and became quite fond of her. Michael is also an interesting character as he is going against what he had been taught to believe and showing compassion for those he would have been fighting against.
Overall, great start to the series with a bit of a cliffhanger ending that had me wanting to continue on reading.

Flip This Love by Maggie Wells
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Harley Cade had been chasing his southern belle Laney Tarrington forever but when he finally caught her attention he got scared and ran. Moving across the country to expand his business Harley left for six months. Laney during that time battled a lot of personal issues and had the devastating loss of her mother to cancer.
When Harley returned to his home town he wanted nothing other than to win back Laney’s heart as his time away told him for sure she was the one for him. Laney however was determined not to let Harley break her heart again. Now that Harley has made his business a success though he is determined to win the girl of his dreams no matter the cost.
For me with Flip This Love my rating came down to the characters. Starting off the story I felt for Laney and her loss and the heartbreak that Harley had caused her when he left and Harley seemed too cocky and kept flaunting his money around that I didn’t want to like him. Somewhere along the line though my feelings completely flipped. Laney was acting like nothing but a spoiled brat and I was starting to wish Harley would find someone who would treat him better.
I think if there hadn’t quite of been as much back and forth between the pair I may have ended with a better feeling overall for this one. The writing was good, the situation was good, the characters though had too much back and forth to make me really root for them as a couple. In the end I just found this kind of average, it had a nice ending but a little less arguing and temper tantrums in the middle would have been a lot more likable in my opinion.
