BEFORE ANYONE ELSE

The Hashtag Series #8

Happily-ever-after.

That’s what happens when you get married.

Right?

Turns out sparkly rings, cake and a fantastic wedding do not automatically grant you that, not even when it’s all you truly want.

I’m even starting to doubt the bottomless, unconditional love I share with the man I married will be enough.

I can’t have happily ever after, know why?

Because I can’t give Romeo what he truly wants. I’ve tried. So hard. I won’t be happy unless he is and something is missing. Someone.

Paparazzi are in my face. The flashing cameras and prying eyes are everywhere. My secret is getting harder to hide, and I know the second the scoop is dished the grip I have on the fraying rope of that happily ever after will snap right in my face.

In our face.

I can’t let that happen. No matter what.

Because with or without a happy ending, Romeo comes Before Anyone Else.

Who knew major league baseball could be so ruthless?

Calvin Malone loved pitching for his small-town minor league baseball team, almost as much as he loved his high school girlfriend Whitney Harris. His dream was a simple one; make it to the majors, marry Whitney and have a family of his own. He had prepared for the hard work, the strain on his body and even the publicity, but he wasn’t prepared for the partying, the women and the backstabbing career and life destroying politics that surrounded the major league team that drafted him. He soon realized that what started as a dream was more of a nightmare.

Would he survive, would Whitney and her love?

Sugar Free (Sugar Bowl #3) by Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Free (Sugar Bowl #3)Sugar Free by Sawyer Bennett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sugar Free is the third book in the Sugar Bowl series by Sawyer Bennett. In the first book, Sugar Daddy, we met Sela Halstead who had been brutally ganged raped and had spent her life trying to overcome that one event. She had seen Jonathon Townsend, the co-owner of The Sugar Bowl, who had the same tattoo of her attackers on television and had vowed revenge. When Sela signed up for the Sugar Bowl though she met Jonathon’s partner and friend Beckett North and found herself pulled into Beck’s world and her plans of revenge put on the hold.

Now with Sugar Free Sela and Beck’s story is continued from where we left off in book two, Sugar Rush. The ending of Sugar Rush was a huge cliffhanger which I won’t mention for anyone that hasn’t begun this series yet but it definitely left me on the edge of my seat waiting for the conclusion in Sugar Free. Now that I have finished the series I can safely say this one is definitely a fast paced and action packed ride from start to finish.

While I enjoyed the entire series I hestitated yet again to rate this installment five stars. Sela and Beck had one heck of a finish in the last book and in this one with the story continuing there it almost seemed a bit awkward getting back into the erotic sections of the book so quickly but of course this couple couldn’t help but steam up the pages so I suppose it wouldn’t have been the same if they hadn’t.

Overall, this is a really good high intensity read with this couple from start to finish. A lot of twists and turns in the relationship and with Sela’s past thrown in along with off the charts hot bedroom antics.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Crash (Crash, #1) by Nicole Williams

Crash (Crash, #1)Crash by Nicole Williams
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Lucy spends all of her time practicing dancing and has dreams of going onto Julliard to study after high school. Lucy was never expecting to have to switch schools in her senior year though but her parents are struggling financially so Lucy finds herself at Southpointe High.

When Lucy stumbles into bad boy Jude at Southpointe High she knows that he is everything she needs to stay away from but finds herself slowly being pulled into his world. Jude has not only a reputation but a rap sheet to go with it and even though he claims to have turned over a new leaf and changed can Lucy actually believe in him?

Crash is a well written romance but I just never really got behind this relationship at all. We have the typical good girl falling for the bad boy where a reader is supposed to root for this boy to change his way and become Mr. Right. But there were so many red flags about Jude that I just never could get behind the story and root for it.

I’m all for anyone improving their lives and making a change for the better but when it comes to relationships this needs to be done beforehand in my opinion. Jude had some good in there that people may fall in love with but he also had a temper and was not honest about a lot of things. There’s a huge lack of trust among other things involved.

In the end, just not one for me I’m afraid. I can see some loving the protective bad boy but I just think anger management might be up his alley.
