The Hitman’s Property
Tia Lewis
(A Bad Boy Mafia Romance #2)
Publication date: November 21st 2016
Genres: Dark Hitman Romance

I’ll go into the depths of Hell just to protect her.

As a hitman, my life is simple and about one thing only—kill my mark. Women are just a bonus. They don’t govern what I do or who I kill.

I don’t do emotions. I don’t talk about my past. And I certainly don’t fall in love.

At least until I rescued Tess.

I never thought I’d fall for a woman like her—blonde, beautiful, petite, and with mesmerizing blue eyes that see right into my tainted soul.

But when she’s threatened, my protective instincts kick into overdrive.

She’s mine. She belongs to me.

The Russian mafia is getting more desperate to get her back, and I’ll be damned if I let her go. I’ll risk my life a thousand times over, and I’ll take down any f*cking bastard who stands in my way.

Even if the consequences end up deadly.

The Hitman’s Property is the continuation and finale of The Hitman’s Possession.

The Hitman’s Property is a full-length dark romance novel that’s intended for mature audiences only. This novel address issues of a serious nature, including violence surrounding the nature of consent that may be a trigger for sensitive readers; contains disturbing situations, graphic language, violence and explicit sexual content. Q&A with Tia Lewis:

What sort of research did you do to write this book?

For my Hitman series, I researched guns, mafia families, accents, etc. This was my first book that I really did a lot of research for.

What are you working on now? Any chance of a sequel?

I’m working on a few alpha billionaire romance novels that will be out in December 2016.

What started you on the path to writing for a living?

I’ve been writing since I was a teenager and into college for fun. I never thought about doing it as a profession but more for a way to express my ideas and put my imagination to paper. I started seeing other successful indie authors do amazingly well and thought I would turn my writing into a career, too.

What are the upsides and downsides to being an author?

The upside is the freedom of expression, but the downside is not everyone will like it. I have a problem with wanting to make everyone (readers) happy and I just have to realize that’s not possible. I’ll keep trying, though!

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

My favorite movie is John Wick which is a hitman/mafia movie and wanted to write a character similar to the film.

Red Death by Jeff Altabef

Red DeathRed Death by Jeff Altabef
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In the city of Eden every child has been raised to fear the Red Death, a plague that came as punishment for ancient sins long forgotten. For centuries the guardians of the city protect those inside from the plague that comes too close.

Seventeen year old Aaliss is a Guardian that has trained to protect Eden but when her younger brother, Wilky, discovers a cure to the plague their world turns upside down and the pair find themselves on the run and outside the boundaries of Eden and into the land of the Soulless where they find themselves navigating a medieval world filled with witches, magic, and warrior kingdoms run by Elders.

Red Death is one of those books that I picked up and immediately had the uh oh moment when opening up to find a glossary of the characters to keep track of during the book. For me when things are that complicated that one of these are needed I often find myself lost and not enjoying a book as much as I would like. However, even though I probably even picked this one up at a pretty bad time, I’d had surgery the week before and my pain pills had my attention span incredibly short, I still ended up enjoying the overall story with this book. Was it a tad confusing? Yes. But with a bit of rereading and the use of the glossary I slowly made my way through the book and was glad that I had.

In the end I would warn that this can be a tad confusing the the changes of POV all throughout and the amount of characters and action going on during the book but it was worth the read. An interesting mix of science fiction, fantasy and dystopian and I do love when things cross over genres and have their own originality involved.

Size Matters (A Perfect Fit #1) by Alison Bliss

Size Matters (A Perfect Fit #1)Size Matters by Alison Bliss
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Leah Martin has spent her life fighting her weight and struggling with feeling that she just isn’t good enough. Leah’s mother is constantly pushing her to diet along with her ex-boyfriend signing her up to a gym so when Leah meets Sam Cooper in a bar she immediately assumes his disinterest is due to her size. Sam however has had his own relationship problems and just doesn’t want to date anyone at the moment.

Instead of going their separate ways though Leah and Sam find themselves drawn together by a bit of a predicament. Sam, thinking he was defending Leah to her ex, opened his mouth and announced they were engaged without thinking of the consequences of this announcement. Now the pair just needs to pretend until they can end their fake engagement so as not to upset Leah’s family.

Size Matters is the first book in the Perfect Fit series. I’d have to say there were things I really loved about this one but a few that I didn’t. The characters and story line were actually pretty good and quite entertaining to read how the pair just continued to get themselves deeper and deeper into their lies which brought about a bit of humor. And they also had their sexier moments as the two grew closer.

However, I will say I did get a bit annoyed with the constant downer Leah was about her own weight and then the constant back and forth Sam was having with himself over actually liking Leah. Yes, both are what make the story but both just seemed to go on and on after a while so perhaps just a bit toning back of the negativity would have brought my rating up a bit more.

Overall though 3.5 stars for Size Matters, some cute and funny moments between this couple that made for a good read.

Campbell’s Redemption (Highland Pride #3) by Sharon Cullen

Campbell's Redemption (Highland Pride #3)Campbell’s Redemption by Sharon Cullen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Iain Campbell is the Marquess of Kerr and like his ancestors he swears loyalty to whichever government happens to be in power but secretly despises the British. When wounded though Iain meets Cait when she helps him and he soon finds himself intrigued with her. Cait however holds no fondness for the Marquess and his political views and just wants him gone before he discovers she’s hiding fugitives in her cellar but circumstances keep the two coming back together again.

Campbell’s Redemption is the third book in the Highland Pride Series by Sharon Cullen. This is the first of the series that I have read myself though but it did seem to read fine as a standalone novel although I’m not sure if there was any background that may be missing but it wasn’t horribly obvious if it had been.

This is one that I found the action and romance portion of the book pretty good for the most part and I enjoyed the characters and the plot going on. However, when things come to a conclusion towards the end it seemed to go pretty quickly and I found a few happenings a bit odd or at least for me strange that the characters found the guilty party a surprise.

Overall though a good historical romance that had plenty of action involved in the plot.

The Hands of Time (Elementals #5) by Michelle Madow

The Hands of Time (Elementals #5)The Hands of Time by Michelle Madow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Hands of Time is the fifth and final book in the Elementals series by Michelle Madow. The book picks up right where the action left the readers in the fourth book in the series, The Portal to Kerberos. The entire series is a fast paced young adult fantasy adventure heavily based on Greek Mythology.

In this series we have been introduced to five teens who have elemental powers and have been sent on an adventure to close the portal to Kerberos and save the world. Each book has led to a high intensity action packed adventure along their journey with this latest being no exception to that.

At book five there isn’t much left for me to say about this series other than wow, what a great way to end it all. I’ve really enjoyed reading the entire series and love the adventures in each of the books based on Greek Mythology as the group tried to save the world. Still would definitely recommend giving this series a try.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author.
