Author Bio:

Genevieve Gannon is a Melbourne-based journalist and author. Her writing was first published in the St Monica’s Primary School newspaper, The Monical, in the form of a mince pie recipe she completely made up. She lifted her standards of journalistic

integrity and wrote stories for music and fashion street press magazines while at university before moving to Canberra to do a journalism cadetship. In 2011 she joined the national news wire, Australian Associated Press, where she covered crime, politics and entertainment. Her work has appeared in most major Australian newspapers including The Age, The Australian and The Daily Telegraph.

Genevieve apologises unequivocally to any of her fellow students and their parents who tried to bake mince pies using the recipe she wrote when she was 10. But if you’re putting four cups of plain flour and four cups of self-raising flour into pasty that doesn’t call for butter, you’ve only got yourself to blame. She currently lives in Melbourne where she is a court reporter. At night time she writes romantic comedies. Husband Hunters is her first novel.

72 Hours by Bella Jewel

72 Hours72 Hours by Bella Jewel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lara was the type that had a spitfire personality and wouldn’t back down from any challenge, that is until the day it cost her the life of someone she loved dearly. Lara standing up to some young punks cost her grandmother her life which put Lara into a depression. All the while Noah was by Lara’s side and Lara thought their love would last forever but one day it all came to an end when Lara walked in on Noah in the arms of another woman.

As soon as Lara found Noah with someone else she shut down the relationship and left Noah. Now a few months later Noah wants the chance to explain and doesn’t want to give up on their love and life they had together. Unfortunately for Lara and Noah they have had an audience during their time together, a stalker with an elaborate plan set in place for the pair. Now begins a twisted hunt when Lara and Noah are kidnapped and dropped in the middle of nowhere and given seventy two hours to save themselves.

72 Hours by Bella Jewel quickly became one of those books that I just could not put down. A romantic suspense story that immediately had my attention as I got to know Lara and Noah’s story and personalities but just as I got settled into wanting to know their relationship the story takes a huge turn when they are dropped into a psychopath’s game of terror.

Easily this story turns into a horrific page turning nightmare that had me on the edge of my seat. It’s one of those books that while reading I really began to long for this one to be made into a movie someday and watch the intense action unfold on a big screen. Definitely a nail biting intensity involved that I think should have readers hooked until the very end. Would definitely recommend checking this one out for the suspense fans.

Everyone wants justice.

That’s what Assistant DA, Lulu Lightly, tells me. “Cathedral City needs you to set things right,” she says. “To rid this place of corruption, once and for all.”

I’d like to rid Lulu Lightly of her clothes. And maybe her moral superiority. But mostly her clothes.

“I want you to fight the good fight with me,” she says.

Hell, yeah. I’m always up for a fight.

“We should stand up and be the voice of the people,” she says.

Sure, I hear voices. Sometimes I even listen to them.

“Figure out what’s good for the City and put it first,” she says.

Oh, honey… what’s good for the City is bad for the people. Trust me, I know. I’m Case Reider—insane Alpha, nefarious inventor, and I understand this town better than anyone.

Cathedral City needs me all right. Just not the way you think.

I’m not the justice you’re looking for, Lulu Lightly.

I’m still the same villain you left behind.

Only now… there’s something very, very wrong with me.

EXCERPT:

“What?” I ask. “What is it, Randy? Tell me what’s going on.”

He takes one last photo out of the folder and pushes it towards me. “You’re here because of him.”

I almost stop breathing.

Case Reider.

The one boy I desperately didn’t want to leave behind when my father moved us out to Wolf Valley seven years ago.

“Yes,” I whisper. “I know him.”

“I know you know him,” Randy says softly. He places a hand on mine just as Lisa appears with another cup of coffee.

I take it from her, muttering some thanks, and then take a long, long sip before coming up for air and letting it out in a sigh.

“He was your escort for the Debutante Ball.”

“How do you know that?” I ask.

“I was there that night.” He smiles sheepishly. “Someone else’s date, obviously. I saw you with him.”

“I haven’t seen him in forever.”

Randy waves a hand in the air. “Doesn’t matter. We’re not after him.”

I feel so relieved.

“Not yet.”

My relief disappears.

“We know for a fact that Lincoln Wade is a black-hat hacker, Lulu. And Detective Molly Masters has been dating him since she came to town. But the real problem is… Lincoln Wade and Case Reider have been best friends since childhood. Do you remember those two boys who went missing twenty years ago, without a trace, then reappeared several years later with no explanation?”

“Oh, Jesus.”

“Yup,” Randy says. “Those two boys were Case and Lincoln. We think Brooks was involved somehow, but we’re not sure where they intersect. They are close now, at any rate. Lulu,” Randy says, leaning across his desk to take both my hands in his. “We need Case Reider to get to Lincoln Wade and Molly Masters, and we need you to get him for us.”

A Betrayal of Time by Lucia Ashta

A Betrayal of TimeA Betrayal of Time by Lucia Ashta
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vivienne and Ray have known each other all their lives and fell in love with each other before they were old enough to even know what love was. Now as high school is coming to a close the pair have decided to attend a party but when Vivienne separates from Ray to use the restroom their world is torn apart in an instant.

Twenty years after the massive event happened that claimed the lives of a lot of the other teens in attendance at the part Vivienne appears out of nowhere. Everyone she knew has aged even though she hasn’t at all. Vivienne longs for Ray to also return but when he doesn’t she dedicates her life to figuring out time travel to hopefully save Ray from whatever event had sucked her into the future.

A Betrayal of Time by Lucia Ashta is a novella length fantasy read that had a great story of lovers ripped apart but would do anything to be together again. The town thought it was an earthquake that had stolen the lives of their children until the day Vivienne appeared again. Once it was known that she wasn’t the only one who’s body hadn’t been recovered she dedicates her life to figuring out what had happened.

While being a short read the author did a wonderful job weaving together the time travel along with letting the readers know enough about the characters to care about their outcome. This is definitely one I’d recommend to the fantasy/time travel lovers out there.
