About the book:

When a killer chooses you, what choice do you have?

Thirty years ago, Elise and Nathaniel shared a horrific trauma that united them in grief. Now, grown up and married with a young family, they feel their worst nightmares are behind them. Until the day their daughter is abducted and murdered.

Both Elise and Nathaniel lost their mothers to a notorious killer who manipulated innocent victims into taking their own lives. Could it be that ‘the Watcher’ has returned for another round of the same sadistic game? Why now? And why are Elise and Nathaniel being targeted again?

When Elise’s family falls under suspicion, her world crashes down around her. Is there anyone she can trust, or is her whole life built on lies?

Only one thing is clear: someone left their cruel game unfinished all those years ago. This time the Watcher intends to win—once and for all.

I Choose You by Gayle Curtis is a psychological thriller novel. The story in I Choose you is one that alternates timelines from a then and now in the chapters. This one is also told mainly from the point of view of the of the main character in the third person but also includes sections in first person from the murderer.

Thirty years ago Elise and Nathaniel both had their mothers taken from them brutally by a serial killer known as the Suicide Watcher. The killer played a sadistic game of kill or be killed that victims did not survive. Elise and Nathaniel later met up in a grief support group for the victims families and ended up falling in love.

Now Elise and Nathaniel are married with children of their own and when their daughter goes missing and later found murdered they believe the killer may be back targeting them again. Could the real killer be back after all of this time or is their a copycat now tormenting their family?

I Choose You by Gayle Curtis should have been one of those books I absolutely fell in love with by the sound of the premise. Unfortunately though this one turned into too much for too little. For being a shorter read it was full of side character/suspects and really kind of became a little confusing. It does work out to a rather twisted ending but only left this one at just an OK read at three stars.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
