Obsession never dies.

When librarian Sigrun falls head-over-heels for the sophisticated and very married Edgar Leyward, she never expects to find herself in his bed—or his heart. Nevertheless, when his enigmatic wife Octavia dies from a sudden illness, Sigrun finds herself caught up in a whirlwind romance worthy of the most lurid novels on her bookshelves.

Sigrun soon discovers Octavia wasn’t Edgar’s first lost love, or even his second. Three women Edgar has loved met early deaths. As she delves into her beloved’s past through a trove of discovered letters, the edges of Sigrun identity begin to disappear, fading into the women of the past. Sigrun tells herself it’s impossible for any dark magic to be at play—that the dead can’t possibly inhabit the bodies of the living—but something shadowy stalks the halls of the Leyward house and the lines between the love of the present and the obsessions of the past become increasingly blurred—and bloody.

            • Haha quite honestly I would need like 10-20 lifetimes to read everything I want to right now and new books come all the time so let’s hope whatever comes next allows us to keep reading.

              • I figure technology will either advance enough that I will be able to download them directly or die, become a ghost, and haunt other readers.

                • I have been reading a cozy series where the former librarian is now a ghost in the library so I’m sure she can continue to read if she chooses.😂

                  • You’re kidding! That’s fantastic! I’ll be keeping this in mind if my soul is so weighed by unfinished business(tbr) or tragedy(not getting to finish my tbr) that I don’t ascend to Heaven. 🤣
I’m back to reading a psychological suspense.

                    • 🤣 I am now getting images of a lot of ghosts wandering around all of the libraries because we all share that problem. 😂

                    • You know.. if we’ve thought of it, someone else had to have considered it before us, which means.. we might have ghostly lurkers reading over our shoulders at this very moment. 😱

                    • I got my reading bug from my mother.. When she figured out that it was one of the only things I could sit still for, it was on. 😆

                    • Haha I can see how she would enjoy you enjoying reading time! The reading gene skipped my mom, she just doesn’t have the patience I suppose and would rather watch a tv show or movie since she’s a slower reader.

                    • Who’s going to get upset that their kid actually wants to read?
And I can see how reading might be frustrating if it felt like it took forever.. I know it would upset me.

                    • Of course, I get involved in them and can’t finish fast enough. But in my defense I’m not in that big of a hurry that I read the end first, I did know someone who did that.🤣

                    • I get pretty absorbed too and then I’m just determined to get answers.. but there’s no way I could read the end first, that seems akin to ruining Christmas. 😱

                    • I know, right??? I had a friend that said she would always read the last page before beginning…. why?? oh why???😦😋🤣

                    • I keep staring at this and I don’t know what to say that doesn’t sound like ‘Why… wait… what.. why?”
Isn’t there something about this in the Reader’s Handguide?

                    • Haha there probably is, and quite honestly she never did give a good reason to it. I don’t get it at all, sometimes those surprise endings make the rating.
