About the book:
On the wild dunes of a Scottish Isle, mistletoe and mischief are the best way to heat up a holiday best shared by two . . .
The wind-whipped December sea air of the isle of Kinloch invigorates Kira MacLeod as she sets out to tame rugged Shay Callaghan. The Scottish bachelor may be as wary of a wedding ring as a snowman is of the hot sun, but it’s no secret how he looks at her—as if she were the only woman in the world. Now, with the encouragement of the canny islanders, and watching two of their best friends tie the knot in a romantic winter wedding, Kira will ignite Shay’s heart—and weave the perfect Celtic Christmas to say aye do . . .

Santa in a Kilt by Donna Kauffman is a holiday romance novella that takes place isle of Kinloch, a small Scottish island. This novella was originally published in a three story collection in Unwrapped. This one is also a part of the Hot Scot Trilogy with two previous novels however it has different main characters so it is find as standalone.
Kira MacLeod is just starting to want to return to the dating world after having gone through a divorce. Kira has her eyes on the single Shay Callaghan and when both attend the wedding of some close friends Kira feels it’s her opportunity. Shay however will not be an easy catch being a divorce lawyer himself and not believing happily ever after is in his future.
Santa in a Kilt was of course a really quick read at novella length and that is exactly why I wasn’t over the top for this one. Having loved several of Donna Kauffman’s previous works I was surprised to find myself not really engaging with this couple and feeling things were rushed through to get to the steamier side. I just personally didn’t feel the love and would have liked more to their beginning.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
