Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Monday.
The song and video I am sharing today is:
New York Groove – KISS + Auld Lang Syne
Since this Music Monday post is falling on New Year’s Eve this year I thought I’d do a little holiday post again this week. Of course the song everyone turns to on New Years is Auld Lang Syne so I’ve included it here too. However, here in the US the big place to ring in the New Year is in New York City at Times Square so I also wanted to get back, back in the New York Groove! Happy New Year everyone!! 😀
Lyrics:
Many years since I was here, on the street I was passin’ my time away
To the left and to the right, buildings towering to the sky
It’s outta sight in the dead of night
Here I am, and in this city, with a fistful of dollars
And baby, you’d better believe
I’m back, back in the New York Groove
I’m back, back in the New York Groove
I’m back, back in the New York Groove
Back in the New York Groove, in the New York Groove
In the back of my Cadillac
A wicked lady, sittin’ by my side, sayin’ ‘Where are we?’
Stop at Third and Forty-three, exit to the night
It’s gonna be ecstacy, this place was meant for me
Feels so good tonight, who cares about tomorrow
So baby, you’d better believe
I’m back, back in the New York Groove
I’m back, back in the New York Groove
I’m back, back in the New York Groove
Back in the New York Groove, in the New York Groove
I’m back, back in the New York Groove [Repeat until fade]

Lyrics:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne*?
- CHORUS:
- For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup!
and surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pou’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin’ auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
We twa hae paidl’d in the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin’ auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak’ a right gude-willie waught,
for auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
I grew up with Kiss, but was not familiar with this song. Great share Carrie. Of course when I went to Youtube to listen to Auld Lang Syne, I saw the Susan Boyle version and listened to it too. Almost made me cry. I find I have been very emotional the last few days as the year winds down.

Thanks Carla! This one was on Ace’s solo album when the four released their own albums so it’s really more his than the band so I don’t believe they ever do it without him.
And yes, I can feel it this time of year too, always something that brings tears to the eyes over the holidays whether it’s the kindness of others or looking back on memories as we move into a new year.

A friend of mine posted Rod Stewart’s Version and I really liked that one too.

I thought about doing several New York songs but so many seem more down than up tempo. New York Groove just had that upbeat that was perfect tonight. 🙂
