About the book:
When Megan Murphy discovered a floppy-eared rabbit gnawing on the hem of her skirt, she meant to give its careless owner a piece of her mind, but Dr. Patrick Hunter was too attractive to stay mad at for long. Soon the two are making Thanksgiving dinner for their families.

Thanksgiving by Janet Evanovich is a contemporary romance that shockingly enough takes place over the Thanksgiving holiday. This one is a fairly quick read that I would warn contains a very fast paced connection between the characters so if insta-love is not your thing you may want to avoid this one.
In the story Megan Murphy finds Dr. Patrick Hunter’s pet rabbit running wild and is of course upset at his carelessness with his pet so intends to give him a piece of her mind when returning the rabbit. Instead, Megan witnesses one of Patrick’s patience drop her child off and ask him to care for the baby so instead of letting him call social services she volunteers to help him out until the mother returns.
I haven’t read too many of Janet Evanovich’s books but this one had the humorous side that I have come across before which I did like. However, I can’t say I completely loved this one with it’s fast pace and Megan being a bit too over the top for me. The plot is a cute idea tossing the couple together in the way that it did though so if it had just toned back a bit of the angst I probably would have rated higher but it was still an Ok read overall.

Insta love actually DOES bother me!!! It’s silly, but I seem to enjoy romances more when the two characters don’t like each other at first and then fall in love! Not sure what that says about me…

I go back and forth with insta love and love triangles, one book they work and the next they annoy me. I think I’m fine with a quickie romance novella having insta love/attraction if they story doesn’t get all angsty and serious.. Say two people meet, we spend a week or two with them falling in love then an epilogue a year later I can handle. Add in fighting and over the top reactions and I start rolling my eyes. LOL
I do agree though the whole opposites attract idea is always a fun one since they have to learn to like each other. I think at the top of my list though would be the whole fake dating trope since putting them into situations with each other gives opportunity for feelings to grow. 🙂

She does have fun humor, Carrie! I’ve read a few of the Stephanie Plum books but not recently. Terrific review!

Great review! 🙂 I loved the earlier books in the Stephanie Plum series so recommend those if you haven’t read them. I don’t think I’ve read Thanksgiving but I’ll keep an eye out for a copy.

Thanks Hayley! Those are actually on my massive TBR but with so many in the series I’ve kept putting them off. It’s easier to grab a quick standalone than wade into a massive series. LOL

I found this book in a box a few years ago and read it. It was a fun, quick read that I enjoyed. Inst-love is not my thing, but in these books, It doesn’t seem to bother me. I sort of know what I am going to find when I start them. Nice review Carrie.

Thanks Carla, this one was ok for the most part as I knew I what I was getting into but I was kind of annoyed with the over the top I’m running away part when he didn’t jump at marriage in the blink of an eye… slow down lady. LOL
