Music Monday: Chris Impellitteri – Somewhere Over the Rainbow

musicmonday

Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Monday.

The song and video I am sharing today is:

Chris Impellitteri – Somewhere Over the Rainbow

First, I haven’t plucked a song out of obscurity in several weeks now so it was about time to share something else that I might be the only one out there that remembers. Of course everyone knows Somewhere Over the Rainbow but I fell in love with this version as soon as I heard it years ago.

Artist: Impellitteri
Album: Stand in Line
Released: 1988

But for those that prefer the original I will share that one too.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow The Wizard of Oz

Lyrics

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I’ve heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
High above the chimney tops,
That’s where you’ll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I’ve heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
High above the chimney tops,
That’s where you’ll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?

    • You’re quite welcome! This is a pretty obscure one but I fell in love with it years and years ago and I saw Jimi Hendrix doing Star Spangled Banner mentioned over Memorial Day and it made me think of this.
