Music Monday: Montgomery Gentry – Lonely and Gone

musicmonday

Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Monday.

The song and video I am sharing today is:

Montgomery Gentry – Lonely and Gone

It’s been almost 6 months now since everyone had to say goodbye to one of the nicest men in the music business in Troy Gentry. Troy was involved in a helicopter crash on Sept 8, 2017 so I wanted to take a moment this Monday and remember him. I’d met him a couple times at shows and he and Eddie were always so friendly and welcoming to their fans. R.I.P. Troy.

Lyrics:

Pulled in the driveway, picked up the paper
Found my key, and unlocked the door
I walked in, felt like a stranger
Like I’d never been there before
As I wandered room to room
It was silent as a tomb
Could have heard a teardrop
Could have heard a heartbreak
Never saw the flood come
Even though I felt the rain
Never heard a house sound
So loud with memories
Where there used to be
A happy home
In the house on the corner
Of lonely and gone
If she talked about leaving, I wasn’t listening
If she showed me a sign, well I never saw
Did she stop believing, did I stop giving
Can’t put my finger on what went wrong
Now the quietest noise I’m told, is the sound of letting go
Could have heard a teardrop
Could have heard a heartbreak
Never saw the flood come, even though I felt the rain
Never heard a house sound, so loud with memories
Where there used to be a happy home
In the house on the corner
Of lonely and gone
Whoa…never heard a house sound
So loud with memories
Where there used to be a happy home
In the house on the corner
In the house on the corner
Of lonely and gone

  1. I love that song, and them! A great pick! We saw them in concert 1x when they were first starting out and met them and like you said, they were so nice and friendly! I was so upset when I found out Troy died. A tragic loss, indeed!
