Gone Missing by T.J. Brearton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Katie Calumet was finishing up her morning run when she heard a baby crying coming from inside of a parked van. Katie isn’t sure what is going on but knows she can’t just walk away from a baby if it’s been left all alone so she sends a quick test to her husband to let him know what is going on then proceeds to check inside the van. But as Katie climbs inside the van she finds things are not quite right but before she knows it she is attacked and kidnapped.
Detective Justin Cross gets the call that a woman is possibly the victim of a kidnapping and heads out to the scene. Katie’s husband explains the message he received from his wife and a toy is found on the side of the road but no sign of Katie. Justin immediately begins the search to find out just who took Katie and why as Katie herself is fighting for her life to survive.
Gone Missing by T.J. Brearton is a completely gripping thriller that has the unique twist of not only following the police as they investigate the case but also the victim as she goes through the ordeal. With alternating points of view readers are kept up to date on both sides of the story as it unfolds keeping the pages turning to see just what would happen.
Katie was a great main character for this story, she was just the perfect mix of strong willed and a fighter but also realistic in the fact that not every choice she makes while on her frantic grasp at survival was always the best move. Meanwhile the police found themselves digging in deep and finding quite the elaborate scheme behind the missing woman as they rush to save her life. Definitely a great, engaging read that I’d recommend checking out.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
I don’t remember seeing this on NetGalley but it sounds so good Carrie. Not looking! Not looking! Not looking!😒

Haha sorry, it’s a Bookouture one though so you know nine times out of ten I do enjoy those quite a bit. 🙂

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a book I didn’t like from them.😊

This one is publishing this week, last minute add for me since it was on my auto approval shelf now and it just looked good the other day, didn’t want to let it go by without trying it out. Definitely a great way to do a thriller keeping track of the kidnapped character instead of just wondering as the police work a case.

I have this one! Yay!😁 Fantastic Review Carrie! I am glad you enjoyed it! I live when the female main character is realistic but strong! Oh and I have a random question. Giselle sent me a message that the author of Wild Hearts wanted to send people who did the blitz Swag? What is a Swag bag or Swag? Lol. I sent her my address and don’t know what it is but I figured it’s free so that’s awesome. Lol.

Swag can pretty much be anything really that in some way relates to the book. With Haven by Mary Lindsey I got a box with a bookmark (a lovely silver one with a wolf pendant), a book bag, coffee mug and a few other goodies. Some authors have sent pens or bookmarks, one giveaway I had a flash drive in with the book.

Let me know what you end up getting, I didn’t sign up myself. That’s actually the first time swag was offered like that so I am curious though, usually it’s just copies of the book to be reviewed if we’ve participated.

Well I can’t say for sure since I’ve done my best to stay ahead the couple of years I’ve been doing it but I’ve heard more complaints of possibly getting declined over negative reviews than late submissions but that’s just guessing there too never noticed any of them decline me after a low review.

I read somewhere to check the approval preferences and emails if it doesn’t day a certain date you don’t have to stress it much.

That’s crazy if you get declined because of a negative review! They state they want your honest opinion!

Yeah I’m not sure I believe that is true at all unless perhaps someone was just brutal and mean which I avoid even at a 1 star.

Yeah, I completely agree with you there! You can atleast be civil with a one star! You don’t have to go beyond!

Yes, to me every book out there will have fans but it doesn’t mean I’ll be one myself every time so I politely list what I didn’t like so if someone may agree they can make the decision for themselves.

Exactly! And quite honestly who am I to tell someone else they can’t write? They’re the ones with the published book. LOL
