The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard by Liz Fielding
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Ally Parker had returned home to Combe St. Philip after she lost her job at a gossip magazine and took the only job available in the small town cleaning. When her good friend Hope approached her to work PR for Hope’s marriage to Prince Jonas she saw it as an opportunity to get a foot back in a door with a job she was better suited for but knew she’d never do anything to hurt Hope.
Count Fredrik Jensson is the head of security for the royal family and he had been sent to Combe St. Philip to get things ready for the big upcoming royal wedding. Ally is at the top of Fredrik’s list of potential problems for the upcoming marriage seeing how she was in debt and out of her job with the gossip mag. Royal secrets could bring big money to Ally so despite the attraction Fredrik immediately feels towards Ally when they meet he is just not sure he can trust her.
The Bridesmaid’s Royal Bodyguard by Liz Fielding is the third installment of the contemporary romance Royal Wedding Invitations series. The series consists of four books by various authors that follow a story that started in the first book with Hope and Prince Jonas meeting and deciding to marry. With each additional book though the main characters switch to another couple involved in the upcoming wedding and tell their story. With most romance series the changing of the characters means they are great as standalones but this one I’d suggest following from the beginning for the full story.
This particular addition to the series for me was a good one. I immediately loved Ally and her strong will to make it on her own after the set back of losing her job. Fredrik is a bit of stiff character and one that I didn’t immediately love but he did have a story there that warms him up a bit as the book goes along. I will say too on the angst side the author did a great job giving this one the twist of it being the male that had the trust issues instead of the normal female freak out moment you often get. In the end it was a nice addition and looking forward to the next.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Wow! You are really whizzing through these Carry!😊

They were fairly short and I finished most of it last week, finished the last of book 4 last night. Also have a couple of cozies I need to write up too… Wish I could magically make my reviews get typed up with my thoughts when I finish instead of having to sit down and type it myself. LOL

Wouldn’t that be lovely!☺️

That sounds amazing!!!😊 Reviews that write themselves!!! That would save so much time!📚⏳

An author friend of mine bought some program that dictates while she talks, forget writing a whole book that just sounds tempting for reviews. 🙂

That’s awesome!!!!! I agree that sounds incredibly tempting! How cool!

It might explain how some authors can release a new book pretty much every month too, save a lot of time just speaking their ideas as they get them.

I agree she’s been on a role with reading and reviews. I’m peanut butter and jealous because I’m slacking and so many publication dates coming up!😱😱😱

Psst… the reading I’m good at, the reviews I’m always behind on. LOL

And now see… I let the whole day slip by without sitting down and writing anything up so I’m even further behind thus why you sometimes get two, three or even four reviews posted in a day. LOL

It’s all good girl! As long as you get them done right? Lol.😂📚❤

I’ve got a bunch I need to squeeze in between now and Nov. 11, so I’m getting totally stressed.😟

Sorry Kim!! I’ve been pretty good lately and gotten myself way ahead so I’m almost out of Nov books with only two left that one is a PDF and one physical. I’ll have to either pick up more or I’ll be reading 2018 books soon.

I wish I had that problem. But then, I have no one to blame but myself.😒

I hate to say it but what helped me “behave” is actually auto approvals. Most of my go-to publishers have granted access so I don’t have to request and wait then let them sit on my shelf until it’s time to read. I can just pick them up closer to their dates now if I have the time so while my shelf looks good I’ll still be grabbing from there for Nov. titles and probably more Oct knowing me. LOL

Thanks! It’s helped me control my fear of missing out and not pile them up on my shelf as much. I can wait and grab one here and there when I have time and if I do miss one and it gets archived I’ll know I wouldn’t have gotten it done in time anyway.

I agree with Kim! But I already have an addiction!😢

Now I even have it in my profile that if they wait to approve me I may not get them done by the publication date. Nothing as unfair as expecting readers to drop everything and get them done that quickly when other books have been sitting and waiting their turn.

That’s a great point Carrie! If they wanted a timely review they should have approved me weeks ago!!!😒

Well I’ve had quite the pile myself at one point where it even went way into the triple digit numbers so I had to organize them somehow. If it was already published or they sent at the last second they would have to wait until I comfortably had time between keeping up with the upcoming books.

Try not to let it stress you out, takes a bit of fun out of the books if you worry too much with deadlines. I was at that point once but I read much faster and enjoy it more if I don’t let that stuff get to me. 🙂

Fantastic Review Carrie!😊 I love when there is a strong lead female character. So many times in fiction they portray the woman as the one with all the issues with jealousy and what not. Thanks looks really great and will be adding this to the everlasting TBR.😎📚

Thanks! That’s always kind of a pet peeve of mine when they just have to add that stupid over reaction moment to throw in some angst in a romance…. either leave it out or make it a bit more realistic, not every woman is going to over react.

Also I love how your reviews start out with a link to add on Goodreads and a bio on the author. That is a really cool feature. I thought about adding the Amazon and Goodreads links in some fashion but it might be hard without access to an actual computer lately😞

That’s actually Goodreads coding. I’ve gotten used to wordpress now and could change to my own format but then nothing would match since I used it in the beginning when I had no clue how things worked on here. LOL
