Dahlia Greene has gone to court to get herself emancipated from her controlling father that has been using her in the entertainment business. She’s better known as the famous pop star “Cherry” but now is trying to live a more normal teenage life instead of being pushed around in the music industry and made to do things she wasn’t comfortable with.
Keegan Matthews has had a crush on Dahlia since he first saw her. At the school dance Dahlia overhears Keegan talking to one of his friends about his “dream girl” and knowing she needs to start making friends if she wants a part of normal teenage life she offers to give Keegan tips on how to win this girls heart. Keegan figures the friendship will help win Dahlia over in the end so plays along with needing her help.
The Secret Life of a Dream Girl is the fourth book in the Creative Hearts series. Each book features a new couple and can be read as a standalone novel. The previous couples do get mention a bit in the stories but you wouldn’t need to have read them to understand the relationships building within each book.
This book was another cute read in this series as Keegan becomes a bit shy about straight out asking Dahlia out so when the wires get crossed and she doesn’t realize she’s overheard him talking about her she begins to help him get a date with his mystery girl. Dahlia also had her own issues and secrets she was dealing with from her pop star identity. Getting a bit of a rocky start with both having secrets it’s a sweet story as the pair slowly get to know one another spending time together.
Overall, another great YA contemporary romance in the Creative Hearts series.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
