Library Journal
For a select group of girls, the Glittering Court offers a shot at a life
they’ve only ever dreamed of, one of luxury, glamour, and leisure. To high-born
Adelaide, whose wealthy family is forcing her into a loveless marriage, the
Glittering Court represents something else: the chance to chart her own
destiny, and adventure in an unspoiled, prosperous new land across the sea.
After a chance meeting with the dazzling Cedric Thorn, Adelaide poses as a
servant to join the crop of impoverished girls he promises to transform into
proper ladies. But her familiarity with upper class life comes with a price:
she must hide her identity from her new friends, mysterious refugee Mira and
fiery former laundress Tamsin, and most importantly, from Cedric himself—even
though she’s falling in love with him.
Everything begins to crumble when Cedric discovers Adelaide’s ruse, and she
catches the eye of a powerful young governor, who wants her for a wife. She
didn’t leave the gilded cage of her old life behind just to become someone
else’s property. But nothing is as daunting—or as wonderful—as the potent,
forbidden attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. One that, if acted
on, would make them both outcasts in a wild, dangerous, uncharted world, and
possibly lead them to their deaths.

Richelle Mead has
written over twenty-five novels for teens and adults. She is the author of the
international #1 bestselling Vampire Academy series and its spinoff series,
Bloodlines. Her recent standalone novel, Soundless, draws upon Chinese
mythology and history, and her forthcoming series, The Glittering Court,
follows the adventures of girls destined for arranged marriages in a fantasy
world inspired by colonial America. A lifelong reader, Richelle has always had
a particular fascination with mythology and folklore. When she can actually
tear herself away from books (either reading or writing them), she enjoys bad
reality TV, traveling, trying interesting cocktails, and shopping for dresses
to wear on tour. She is a self-professed coffee addict, works in her pajamas,
and has a passion for all things wacky and humorous. Originally from Michigan,
Richelle now lives in Seattle, Washington, where she is hard at work on her
next novel.

Definitely, I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time now. I didn’t care for Soundless too much so I’m hoping this one is back to one I’ll love. 🙂

Ididn’t like Soundless, gave it only 2 stars. But I hope I’ll like this one bc I love VA, that’s my favorite series so I hope this one will also be good.

Yeah, I only gave it 2.5 myself. Just found that one rather dull. I’ve read everything else other than I still need to go back and do the Dark Swan series but the rest a great so I’m hoping for a five star with this one. 🙂

I still have to read her adult books, I only read Gameboard of Gods but will have to reread that one.
Ohh, I hated how Soundless was presented as fantasy when in reality it was a dystopian. plus, some scenes and situations were just ridiculous and unlogical…

It seems like forever ago since the second in the Age of X series, keep wondering when the next will be for that one. The first I actually read though were the Georgina Kincaid series then picked up the VA series.

ohh, which one you liked better?
yes, you’re right. I feel like it’s been ages since the second book came out…

My favorite in the end is probably the whole VA/Bloodlines but the GK series has the same type of feel to it really so it’s a close second. I was sad when Bloodlines came to an end and was one that was hoping for yet another spin off series. 🙂

me too! I still hope she will write about VA world because in her acknowlegement she said sth like it is not over.
I don’t think we got all of our questions answered so I hope there will be still more books in the future…

I’m really a sucker for the long drawn out series such as VA/Bloodlines or like with the Shadowhunters from Cassandra Clare. Just keep on writing and keeping the stories fresh and I’ll be one of the first in line to keep reading. Some get repetitive but Mead and Clare definitely don’t do that.

Uhh,I still have to read the last three books in TMI series, I want to read Lady Midnight so bad but I have to read those books prior and tbh, they are pretty big so I am putting it off for too long…

They are huge but well worth the read but you may still want to take your time since i’m going to be going crazy until the next book is released being already done with Lady Midnight. LOL

I hope so too! Other than Soundless though I have really enjoyed all the others I’d read. Gameboard of the Gods took me a little to get into but still liked it in the end.
