The Girl In The Ice by Robert Bryndza

The Girl In The IceThe Girl In The Ice by Robert Bryndza
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

When the body of a young woman is found beneath the ice Detective Erika Foster is called in to be in charge of the investigation. The young woman is identified as the missing daughter of a very wealthy and prominent family. Erika immediately jumps into the investigation of the case but doesn’t make many friends among her new colleagues with her take charge attitude and off the beaten path means of investigating. Erika begins uncovering the secrets and lies of the victim, Andrea Douglas-Brown’s life. She soon finds herself fighting the family, her colleagues and her superiors at every turn to get to the truth of the Andrea’s murder.

The Girl on the Ice is a wonderful new thrilling police procedural featuring a strong, gritty female detective that goes a bit off the book and does whatever it takes to solve her case. This is the first book in the new series that will feature Detective Erika Foster and I will definitely be looking forward to the rest of the series after reading this book.

I found myself caught up from page one when we meet Andrea and are given a bit of a hint that seems she knew her killer. The list of suspects continued to grow throughout the story so it kept me on my toes guessing until the end how it would all wrap up.

I debated between 4 and 5 stars for this read as the story is one that is a bit familiar with all the books, movies and TV I’ve read over the years. But Robert Bryndza brought these characters and story to life in a way that completely grabbed me from the start so I decided on 4.5 in the end. I could honestly see this being made in a film and watching the entire thing on the big screen so well done on Mr. Bryndza’s first attempt at the thriller genre.

Overall, completely engaging with wonderful writing, great characters and story line. Would definitely recommend.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    • Definitely one I’d recommend. I said it hooked me from page one but I think it was really that cover that pulled me in to begin with…. nice to have a good story and writing to go with it. 🙂
