The One is the third book in the Selection series by Kiera Cass. It picks up right where The Elite left off in the second installment continuing with America’s story as she participates in what is known as the Selection where Prince Maxon must choose his next Princess from thirty five hopeful contestants.
I have to say when I started this series my review of the first book sounded rather harsh as I thought a lot of the ideas seemed to be taken from other things. But for some reason the series still drew me in and I did enjoy reading it even with all the faults I had found. By this third book I ended up completely hooked on the story line and the relationships and characters involved.
With each book in the series along with the novellas I think the story picked up and got more focused on the areas that I found lacking with the first. One of my earlier complaints was the lack of focus on the world and the characters but with The One I think the author did a wonderful job explaining a lot that had been left out earlier while continuing the romance.
Overall, Somewhere along the journey I became a fan and would recommend this series now, it did have it’s faults along the way but ended up a completely enjoyable light, fun read.
