Another week with just three new titles to add to my ever towering TBR. Really curious how Before Dorothy will be. đ
As always clicking the covers will take you to the book on Amazon!**
New additions from Netgalley Mar 9th  â Mar 16th
Long before Dorothy visits Oz, her aunt, Emily Gale, sets off on her own grand adventure, leaving gritty Chicago behind for Kansas and a life that will utterly change her, in this transporting novel from New York Times bestselling author Hazel Gaynor.
As featured in People â Us Weekly â Woman’s World â and more!
Chicago, 1924: Emily and her new husband, Henry, yearn to leave the bustle of Chicago for the promise of their own American dream among the harsh beauty of the prairie. But leaving the city means leaving Emilyâs beloved sister, Annie, who was once closer to her than anyone in the world.
Kansas, 1932: Emily and Henry have established their new home among the warmth of the farming community in Kansas. Aligned to the fickle fortunes of nature, their lives hold a precarious and hopeful purpose, until tragedy strikes and their orphaned niece, Dorothy, lands on their doorstep.
The wide-eyed child isnât the only thing to disrupt Emilyâs world. Drought and devastating dust storms threaten to destroy everything, and her much-loved home becomes a place of uncertainty and danger. When the past catches up with the present and old secrets are exposed, Emily fears she will lose the most cherished thing of all: Dorothy.
Bursting with courage and heart, Before Dorothy tells the story of the woman who raised a beloved heroine, and ponders the question: what is the true meaning of home?
Two estranged best friends find that their long-abandoned treasure hunt might be the key to a fresh startâfor both their futures and their feelings, from USA Today bestselling author Sarah Adler.
Last week, Nina Hunnicutt was a professor about to move into a gorgeous new apartment with her long-term boyfriend. Now, sheâs single, unemployed, and living with her parents. Even more surprising is the fact that Quentin Bell, her childhood neighbor (and okay, fine, crush), is also back in townâand wants to resume the treasure hunt that ended their friendship almost two decades ago.
Hoping the reward promised to whoever finds the rumored riches left behind by the townâs eccentric turn-of-the-century seltzer magnate will help her get her life back on track, Nina agrees. Granted, last time the search resulted in a broken heart and seventeen years of silence. But Ninaâs older and wiser now. Surely things will be different?
Except, Quentin is also older and wiserâŚnot to mention distractingly handsome. As they resume their hunt, Nina and Quentin begin to rediscover all the things they once loved best about each other. But unlike the treasure, the secrets that left them empty-handed the first time refuse to stay buried. If thereâs any hope of finding what theyâre looking forâand for a future togetherâNina and Quentin will have to be brave enough to excavate their past as well.
A page-turning, compelling thriller about a woman who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth behind her sisterâs disappearance.
Shaw Connolly is no stranger to trauma. As a fingerprints analyst, sheâs one of the first on-site for crimes, including murder scenes and a mysterious string of arsons popping up throughout the rural Maine community her department serves. But the tragedy of her little sisterâs disappearance sixteen years ago has always weighed on her the most; Thea is never far from her thoughts or dreams, and Shaw knows that her obsession with finding the truth about Thea is driving her husband away and impacting her two boys. Still, she can’t let it go and has even started taking disturbing calls from a man named Anders Jansen who all but claims to have committed the crime.
Anders taunts Shaw with hints and innuendo about what supposedly happened all those years ago. His calls go to the next level as he reveals just how much he knows about Shawâs personal life, like her stalled career and ruined marriage. As his stalking escalates to threats on her and her family’s lives, he begins to show just how dangerous he might be. Shaw is too desperate for answers to hang up now, just when she’s getting close to finding proof. The only question left is what she must lose to learn the truth.
A taut, atmospheric thriller from Edgar Award-finalist young adult author Gillian French, Shaw Connolly Lives to Tell introduces a compelling new voice in adult suspense fiction.

EXCERPT:
As Lorna and Mack are in the parking lot getting ready to go on their first fake dateâŚ
No, she was an adult. She just needed to pull up her big girl panties and face going out on a fake date with a hot cowboy on her own.
She twisted the strap of her purse around her fist as she peered around the parking lot, trying to see if she recognized any of the cars.
âYou okay?â Mack asked, nodding to her knee, which had been shaking for the past five minutes. âYouâre as fidgety as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.â
âYes, Iâm fine,â she said, pressing her foot into the floor of the truck to stop it from shaking. âItâs just thatâŚwellâŚI got married not long after high school, and this last year my focus has been on the kidsâŚand it just feels a little pathetic that this is the first date Iâve been on in eight years, and it isnât even real.â She wrapped the strap tighter until it suddenly gave way and snapped apart in her hands. âOh shoot.â
Tears threatened as she stared down at the two torn pieces.
âHey, now,â Mack said, sliding an arm around her shoulder and pulling her to him. âWe donât have to do this. The last thing I want is to think that going out on a date with me makes you cry.â
She shook her head against his shoulder and huffed out a small laugh. âItâs not you. Youâre amazingâŚâ
âAnd so damn hot, if I recall the words you used yesterday,â he said, obviously trying to tease a smile out of her.
She laughed again. âYes, and so damn hot that any girl would be lucky to go out with you.â She blew out a breath. âItâs just been a long time. I havenât really been out on a date since high school. I donât remember how to even act.â
âI get it. All those months I was in Texas, I was working so hard, and only left the ranch a few times, so itâs been a dang long time since Iâve been out on a date, as well. But I can honestly say, youâre the only woman Iâve wanted to take on a date in years, even if it is a fake one.â
âThatâs sweet, but Iâm not sure that takes the pressure off.â
He chuckled. âThereâs no pressure. And Iâm serious, we donât have to do this at all. If this makes you uncomfortable, Iâm happy to take you home. We can pick up a pizza on the way.â
The idea of going home, putting on comfy pants, and scarfing down a pizza did sound appealing.
She lifted her chin. âNo. I can do this. Iâm just being silly. Lyle always said I tended to be overdramatic.â
Mackâs easy expression darkened. âFirst of all, you need to stop giving two shits about what Lyle said about anything. That guy is a fool and an idiot and a few other choice words that I probably shouldnât say in front of a lady. Youâre not being silly. Or overdramatic. Youâre being honest. And real. And you have every right to feel whatever youâre feeling.â
âThank you,â she whispered around the sudden lump in her throat. Apparently, there were still good men left in this world.
And if she could just get over herself, she could go out on a fake date with one of them.

EXCERPT:
Arlo, the tech nerd sheâd been dating for the past few months, had turned out to be Mr. All Wrong. For a guy who looked normal enough, he overflowed with emotional drama and ended up being both clingy and needy. In short, Arlo was far more than Kelly was willing to deal with. Sheâd broken up with him two weeks ago and had zero regrets about doing it.
She had enough going on in her life with work. She didnât need a high-maintenance boyfriend sapping all her energy in her free time.
For now, she was blissfully unattached.
Why, then, were images of Ransom Kressleyâs smile infiltrating her thoughts with increasing frequency? It was ridiculous.
She sat up and glanced at her watch. Five more minutes, and sheâd head back inside. Eyes closed, she returned to basking in the sun. The squeak of the tasting room door and the sound of footsteps on the gravel let her know she was no longer alone.
She opened her eyes and looked up to see Ransom smiling down at her. Maybe sheâd fallen asleep and was dreaming. That seemed the more logical reason why heâd be standing over her with the sun backlighting his thick hair and gilding his broad shoulders that were encased in a blue polo shirt. A shirt Kelly was fairly certain sheâd help him choose the day of his shopping spree after Christmas.
âHey, stranger,â Ransom said, his smile widening as he sank beside her on the bench.
âWhat are you doing here?â she asked, still not entirely convinced she wasnât dreaming.
âSome friends wanted to go wine tasting, so I offered to be the designated driver.â Ransom motioned toward the tasting room. âTheyâve been tasting,â he used air quotes to emphasize tasting, âsince noon. I, for one, am ready for dinner. Any suggestions on places to go for a starving man?â
Kelly grinned. âIf the starving man prefers lots of meat like his cavedweller ancestors, I know just the place. Itâs in Newberg. Smoked meats that are to die for. Sides of baked beans, mac ân cheese, and coleslaw. For dessert, get one of their house-made candy bars.â
âSee, this is all good info to know, and itâs making my mouth water thinking about it. Do they have brisket?â
âHow do you have smoked meats without it?â Kelly asked and bumped her shoulder against Ransomâs. âYes, they have brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken, and once in a while, youâll even find burnt ends there.â
âOkay, Iâm totally sold.â He rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
âIf theyâre packed and you canât get in, thereâs a really good Greek place if you head back toward Portland through Sherwood. You canât miss it.â
âThanks, Kelly.â Ransom gave her a long glance. âHow have you been? Are you still going out with the IT guy from the tech company?â
âArlo? Nope. Too much drama and crying for my tastes. To clarify, they were his tears and drama.â
Ransom chuckled. âSmart girl. So, whatâs next?â
Kelly shrugged. âI think Iâll take a break for a while. Weâre heading into our super busy season in the tasting room when I generally work more hours, so I donât really have time for dating, at least if it requires a lot of mental anguish and preparation for the date.â
âDates are supposed to be fun, not torture. Maybe youâre just doing it wrong.â
Kelly laughed, aware he was teasing her.
The door to the tasting room opened, and a tipsy brunette in hot pink stilettos and pants so tight Kelly wondered how she could move in them waved at Ransom with an annoyingly high-pitched giggle.
âThere you are Ran-Ran. I thought maybe you left us.â
âIâm right here, Aria.â Ransom stood, although he didnât look excited to rejoin his date. âAre you ready to go?â
âNo! Lydia just got a chandalay.â She hiccupped, tossed her unnaturally glossy hair, and went back inside.
Kelly raised an eyebrow, then looked at Ransom. âAnd what were you just saying to me about doing dating wrong?â

Who accidentally has a one-night stand with her yoga instructor?
Yep. Me.
How did I accidentally sleep with someone, right? I know what youâre thinking. Whoops! I slipped and inadvertently inserted Tab A into Slot B.
Thatâs not quite how it went.
But my yoga instructor is really, really skilled with Tab A, if you know what I mean.
Slot B never had it so good.
What am I supposed to do now, as I walk into my yoga class and find the guy I ghosted this morning⌠there, in front of the class, perfectly aligned and grinning at me like he remembers touching all my chakras.
Heâs perfect. Too perfect. Heâs so perfect heâs ruining my job.
Iâm an investigative reporter, working on spec for an article for a national magazine, and my job is to find all the ways this yoga chain is corrupt.
The only thing criminal here is that I canât have him in Slot B ever again. And I would. Iâd turn myself into a paper doll book if thatâs what it took for more of that action.
I want him. He wants me. Nothing I do will make him back off because the chemistry is off the charts.
Except for one pesky little
Weâre at cross-purposes.
I need my exposĂŠ to get the job of my dreams. He needs to sell his stake in the yoga chain before I expose the corrupt current owner.

His name is⌠umâŚ
His name isâŚ
He told me to call himâŚ
Letâs just call him by his initials.
N.M. for Naked Man.
Or for Never Mind.
Because in ten minutes, weâre going to pretend this never happened.
Pretend I didnât go to a bar last night and have three glasses of pinot grigio, violating my strict two-glass limit.
Pretend I didnât let my friends talk me into jumping up on stage and singing âWAP,â complete with properly choreographed dance moves.
Pretend I did not let N.M. here buy me a drink and kiss him like my tongue had developed magnets that sought out his iron tonsils.
And he most certainly did not kiss me back with a suave, athletic grace that made my body shimmer and my P, indeed, become deeply W.
Oh, no.
While technically, all of that did happen, and I invited him back to my apartment and we did the two-back nasty so many times I am pretty sure we need to invent a new prime number for it, in ten â now, nine â minutes, Mr. N.M. doesnât exist.
My life has firm boundaries.
