Sucker Punched
Kelley R. Martin
(Knockout Love #2)
Publication date: September 27th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
From New York Times bestselling author Kelley R. Martin, comes a sexy new standalone in the Knockout Love series.
“Macy Dunham” is synonymous with “off-limits.” Not only is she practically a virgin, but she’s a walking, talking angel who’s way too good for a devil like me. She’s straight-up beautiful, and so far out of my league I want to cry. Did I mention she’s also the godmother to my future niece or nephew?
Now I have to play nice with “Aunt Macy” for the next 18 years. There’s just one tiny problem—the first night I met her, I played with her a little too nice.
Macy was only supposed to be a hook-up. I was supposed to show her a night she’d never forget—give her a little taste of what it’s like to be bad—and then send her on her way. She wasn’t supposed to stick around, and she damn sure wasn’t supposed to become my best friend.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to pretend like I don’t know how soft her skin feels, how good her lips taste, or how perfect it feels inside her? It’s torture. I’d give my left nut for another chance to sink inside Macy, but I can’t afford to mess this up and that’s exactly what would happen.
It’s too bad “Blake Whitmore” is synonymous with “screw-up.” Macy’s a sweet girl who deserves an epic love story. She deserves romance, and a knight in shining armor who slays dragons. I’m not the knight in this story.
I’m the fucking dragon.

Author Bio:
Kelley lives in Texas, but she swears it’s not all country music and cowboy boots… Okay, some of it is, but not all of it. She’s got an amazing husband, who continues to inspire her every day, even after twelve years and two ridiculously cute little girls.
Treasured by Crystal Jordan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Rebecca Small works at the local museum setting up the displays but with her obsession with the past she doesn’t mind her job at all. Her biggest obsession is the famous pirate James Morrow who had vanished at sea. Her daydreams of herself and James are ones to make anyone blush but she can’t help but get a little steamy while being near James’ display.
Once Rebecca touches the pirate’s antique sword though she finds herself on a pirate ship in the middle of a battle. More realistic than any of her daydreams Rebecca doesn’t know quite what happened with just that one touch but the next thing she knows she is with the focus of her obsession, the one and only James Morrow.
Treasured was a rather steamy little quick read novella. The idea behind this story that Rebecca time travels back to the days of her pirate obsession and the reasoning behind it was actually quite a good one.
One thing I found though with this read is that it jumped right into the erotic and the plot seemed somewhat of an afterthought at times even though it was a rather nice one for this kind of read. The sexual parts however got a bit repetitive for such a short read.
Overall, not too bad of an idea for a steamy little novella. A quick read for the fans of the erotic romance genre.

Unlocked Treasure by Linda Carroll-Bradd
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Aleen MacRae is definitely a land lover, she blames the lure of the sea for breaking apart her family and the ending of her engagement. When Aleen’s aunt predicts that Aleen’s future will be tied to the sea she definitely does not believe her as Aleen wouldn’t be caught anywhere near. But when Aleen meets a mysterious man that has shown up in not only her dreams but now in her life she just may be turned into a believer.
Unlocked Treasure was a really quick little novella at only 54 pages. At such a fast pace it had it’s sexier moments, it’s drama moments and the relationship taking place but as with something this short I always find a bit of depth missing to really become overly invested. Aleen and Braden were an ok couple and the story interesting enough though that if you are a fan of a steamier romance then this might be for you.

Shadow Fall by Audrey Grey
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
An asteroid is headed for the Earth and threatening to make the planet uninhabitable but there’s only a few humans who will be safe and many still fighting for survival. The Golds have moved to a space station and the Silvers underground leaving the Bronzes in society fighting for the remaining spot of protection.
Maia Graystone was born to a mother who is a Gold and a father that is a Bronze, unfortunately for Maia she became a Bronze herself and has been in hiding but now she needs to take the opportunity to fight in the trials to try to save herself and her little brother Max.
Shadow Fall is one of those books that while it sounded incredibly interesting it didn’t take long to lose my interest while reading. Unfortunately for this one it started off a bit confusing trying to figure out the world and character building in the story and didn’t get much better once you became more familiar with them.
While reading this one I kept comparing it to a bunch of other young adult books out there which it seemed to kind of be sampling from. The ideas that were happening for the most part felt familiar but sort of an odd mix of a bunch of different books which just wasn’t working for me.
Overall, this one just wasn’t for me I’m afraid. It never really took on a life of it’s own other than a few times it seemed to be somewhat of trying to be a darker version of the books it reminded me of.

Everyone is dying to live in the Shadows of the Forest.
They gave me three rules to follow in exchange for my brother’s life:
1. Do not enter the West Wing;
2. Do not go outside after darkness falls; and
3. There is only one exit; The Gates.
This is what happened when I broke them…
