Publication date: August 17th 2017
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance
Hot coffee is a regular fixture in Hailey Warren’s life. Hot guys? Not so much.
Her grueling shifts at a cafe in the heart of the city’s business sector are rarely punctuated by anything special, so when the gorgeous heir to the security company next door strides into Hailey’s life, it feels like punctuation with a capital P (or D, depending on your preferred terminology).
Jordan Knox is enough to send her heart racing faster than a triple shot of espresso, and when the attraction proves to be mutual, no hidden corners or empty offices are safe from their game of cat and mouse.
But when she’s ready to drop the pretenses, Jordan continues to hold back, and Hailey realizes he’s been hiding secrets that could make whatever’s brewing between them boil over and burn.
‘Latte Girl’ is a full length, standalone novel, and the debut title from author Katia Rose.

EXCERPT:
I manage to get my head out from under the desk, and find myself face to face with his crotch.
Interesting development, notes my very unhelpful brain.
I move my eyes from his crotch to his horrified face.
“I’m— I’m not. A stalker, that is. I wasn’t hiding. I mean, I was just— wait. Let me get out of here first.”
Wondering how I managed to get under the desk so quickly in the first place, I try to contort myself enough to escape. I scoot out with my legs still bent up to my earlobes and then try to haul myself to my feet by grabbing the top edge of the desk.
This, of course, overbalances me and I reach out for the only thing I can find to keep me from falling, which just so happens to be the armrests of Jordan’s chair. I catch my balance with my arms braced on either side of him, our faces inches apart.
A soft “Unph” sound escapes my lips.
He blinks.
“Hey,” he finally says.
“Hi,” I reply, my voice breathy.

Author Bio:
Katia Rose is not much of a Pina Colada person, but she does like getting caught in the rain. She prefers her romance served steamy with a side of smart, and is a sucker for quirky characters. A habit of jetting off to distant countries means she’s rarely in one place for very long, but she calls the frigid northland that is Canada home.

Pink Lock Picks and Sequined Witch Hats by Carla Rehse
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
At seventeen Gracie Mason is a cheerleader, homecoming queen and budding burglar to try to get the attention of a guy. On Gracie’s first break in however she walks into a male witch’s circle of power and finds herself awakening outside the building with a headache and no memory of what happened. Asher and his sister try to explain what happened to Gracie but of course she’s not too sure when they claim to be witches. But when Gracie sees the mark on her arm signaling the beginning to a bonding ritual she knows their claim is real.
While Asher is pretty cute for a witch Gracie is certain she isn’t ready for a lifetime bond with someone before graduating high school so she agrees to help try to break the bond. Breaking the bond isn’t as simple as she wished though and now Gracie finds herself mixed in with a society of witches with a secret club, a shadowy council, and all sorts of magical mischief and just when it didn’t seem it could get worse witches start turning up dead.
Pink Lock Picks and Sequined Witch Hats by Carla Rehse is a fast paced and funny young adult read with fantasy mixed in with romance and a bit of mystery. The story took off from the opening pages leading right in with Gracie trying her break in and quickly moving onto the witchy fun of the rest of the book.
Gracie was more than a bit of fun with her sass and charm that had me laughing on more than one occasion. It was nice that a character was described as the spoiled cheerleader actually turned into a very likable and fun lead. While the action packed the pages and kept the book moving along quickly I never felt I really missed out on any world or character building along the way and just found this one a ton of fun and would definitely check out more by this author.
I received an advance copy of this book from Xpresso Book Tours.
Zero Repeat Forever by Gabrielle Prendergast
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Raven, her boyfriend and his twin brother were sent away to a summer camp when the teens got into some trouble at home. While at camp however the attacks from those known as the Nahx began happening around the world. With little communication those at the camp chose to stay where they were and hope for rescue but that comes to an abrupt end when Raven’s boyfriend is found with a Nahx dart in his back, it seems their safe haven is no longer safe.
Eighth has no voice and no name, only his rank to identify him. His orders are to dart the humans and leave them where they fall repeated over and over inside his head. His only company, a sixth, has just been killed and now Eighth has no idea what he should do. Now with Sixth gone Eighth begins to ignore his directives humming in his mind and that is when he comes across Raven and her friends.
Zero Repeat Forever is the first book in the new Nahx Invasions young adult sci-fi series by Gabrielle Prendergast. This first book is one that while I enjoyed the story I hesitated on how to rate this one for several reasons and decided to give it 3.5 stars. The first reasoning behind the rating was simply this one heavily reminded me of The 5th Wave while reading. But perhaps even a slower, less eventful version of that story which also brought down my rating a tad since I’m not a huge fan of the slower pace.
But even with the reminders of another story and the slower pace I did find myself quite intrigued with the book and curious if it would end up standing out on it’s own. A few positives in this one is that there’s diversity within the characters and enough world and character building to keep a reader’s interest and prolong the intrigue with wanting to know more.
Then just as I was wondering what the author had in store there was a pretty intense end to this one that left me with that feeling of where oh where is the next book?? So all in all this was a decent start to the series that left me wanting to continue but I do hope the pace can pick up a bit in the next read and really distinguish it’s own story from others.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

The Cat’s Pajamas
Soraya May
Publication date: August 24th 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
Everyone has somewhere they belong…
Cat Milsom ran from her life in the USA – from a career as a hospital doctor, and from an engagement just to please her family. When she stopped running, she found herself on the other side of the world in a little town called Cable Bay, New Zealand. Now she runs a bar, and tells herself that living up to people’s expectations is overrated.
Archaeologist Ryan Sanders has never settled anywhere. Travelling the world, he thinks that settling down is for little people who can’t see beyond their own front door. When he’s sent to investigate a report of fossils discovered in Nelson, he thinks it’ll be simple; done in a few days, and then on to the next job.
Problem is, the fossils are directly underneath Cat’s bar, and she’s not about to see it demolished without a fight.
Sometimes it takes digging up the past to open your eyes to the future.

Author Bio:
Soraya May writes contemporary romance with silly jokes, sweet (but strong) heroines, and likeable (but sometimes infuriating) heroes. She grew up on a remote New Zealand sheep farm with only books and animals for company, and she’s been using her imagination and making her own fun ever since.

The thing is, he’s no longer sure he can survive it either.

Author Bio:
Annette Marie is the author of the Amazon best-selling Steel & Stone series, which includes Goodreads Choice Award nominee Yield the Night, and fantasy trilogy Red Winter. Her first love is fantasy, but fast- paced urban fantasy and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it’s not quite that bad) with her comparatively sensible husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat—Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
