About the book:

From the USA Today bestselling “master of witty banter” (Entertainment Weekly) comes a hilarious and heartwarming romance about a big city doctor who never expected to find the man of her dreams in the tiny town of Matchmaker Bay.

Dr. Nora Walsh has just been dumped in spectacular fashion, making it the perfect time for a major life change. She figures taking over the medical practice in tiny Matchmaker Bay for a couple of years will help her get over her broken heart, and then she can head back to the big city. But when the first man she sees looks like a superhero god, she wonders if maybe there’s something to small-town living after all.

Jake Ramsey also has a broken heart — one he never expects to heal. He doesn’t need people anyway and is content hiding out in his secluded cottage on the beach. But after helping Nora with a medical emergency, he finds himself opening up to the witty, warmhearted doctor. Soon the local matchmakers are working overtime to pair them off, and Jake begins to wonder if his campaign to get Nora to stay is for the town or because he can’t bear the thought of her leaving.

Paradise Cove by Jenny Holiday is the second book in the contemporary romance Matchmaker Bay series. As with a lot of contemporary romance series the theme to the series is the setting and the main characters will change with each new book so they all can be read and understood as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. There are little glimpses of previous characters in the series all throughout though for those that follow along from the beginning.

Matchmaker Bay is actually the nickname of the charming little Moonflower Bay, Ontario due to some nosey matchmaking residents. Dr. Nora Walsh is just coming out of a bad break up and has decided to move to Moonflower Bay and take over the medical practice for a few years before she heads back to the city.

Jake Ramsey is sort of the town recluse perfectly content to hide out in his remote cottage on the beach. However, when Jake does go into town he runs right into helping the new doctor with an emergency. As Jake and Nora’s paths continue to cross it becomes apparent to the town matchmakers that these two are meant to be together.

Having read both books in this series I can say for sure that I definitely have fallen in love with this charming beachy small town. I am always looking for cozy mysteries with quirky humorous characters and here I have found a contemporary romance with this older quirky crowd so I am all in for it. It has also been wonderful to find that the main characters in each were incredibly likable too and this book had all the feels learning their stories. Definitely continuing onto book three now!

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

    • Thanks Kim! I know it’s not your preferred genre but I love when I find nice easy series like these to read between the darker thrillers.🙂

  2. This series sounds like one I would enjoy and of course taking place in Ontario is a big plus for me. I wonder if Hoopla will have this one. Nice review Carrie.
