Lock Every Door by Riley Sager was one of my most anticipated novels of the year after having read The Last Time I Lied last year and loving it. Needless to say from my rating on this one I was not disappointed in the least.

Jules Larsen is at an all time low in her life when she walks in on her live in boyfriend with another girl leaving her homeless. And if that wasn’t enough to pile on one person Jules also ends up losing her job too. Despite her friend offering her a place to stay Jules is determined to pick herself up and dust herself off and find work.

When Jules comes across an ad for an apartment sitter that says it pays well and is located in one of the oldest and sought after buildings in the city she can’t believe her luck. Sure, the job comes with some pretty strict rules but to be paid to live in luxury?? Of course when a fellow apartment sitter turns up missing Jules begins to think there may be more to the stories she’s heard.

Creepy. Compulsive. Compelling. Just a few words coming to mind with this one. I am usually one of the most impatient readers but  Riley Sager has a way of doing a slow build that just wraps me up in the tense atmosphere and won’t let go. I can see his same style in both books that I have read yet they are still very different from one another. Between the gargoyles setting the scene and things going bump in the night Lock Every Door was definitely a page turner and I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next.
