Memoirs of a Dragon Hunter by Katie MacAlister is the first book of the paranormal romance Dragon Hunter series. I picked this one up thinking it had been a while since I’d read a good paranormal romance and unfortunately I’ll have to keep looking to check off that box.
The main character in this book is Veronica who hadn’t heard from her sister in quite a while so imagine her shock when she makes contact. The reason however is even more shocking, Helen had come to pass on her dragon hunting ability and Veronica watches as she turns into a pile of ash.
Now, for anyone this whole dragon hunting/demon infested world would be a lot to take in as it is but even more so for OCD suffering Veronica. But if anything could get Veronica’s mind off of the germs surrounding her it would be Ian Iskander.
Now I’m one that absolutely loves a good eccentric or quirky character in a book so at quick glance the blurb for this one sounded like it could be right up my alley. However, instead of a quirky and funny Veronica came across to me as cheesy and childish. I know her actions are meant to convey her OCD nature but just in my mind it went a bit too far to make her into a believable adult character and felt as if I’m reading the view of a tween at times. Of course others are enjoying this opener for the series so while it wasn’t my cup of tea feel free to check it out if it sounds like a good one for you.

The lead felt like a 12 year old doing adult things so I can’t imagine what the cover could look like with my take on her. LOL

Terrific review Carrie. I enjoyed her Aisling Grey series, but I haven’t read anything by her for years. This is too bad.

Thanks! I don’t think I’ve read any others and it would be my guess this was her interpretation of an OCD character but it didn’t work for me.

Very interesting, the cover is not the Dragon Hunter but some hot guy and the main character is immature somewhat? I agree, keep looking Carrie.
