Twenty years ago Remmi was a teenager who got it in her mind she was going to sneak out one night but when her mother comes in Remmi hides in her mother’s old Cadillac in the garage. What Remmi didn’t expect was for her mother to load her newborn twins int he Cadillac and take off late at night while she was hiding in the trunk.

With nothing to do but stay quiet or have to explain what she was doing up and hiding in the car Remmi holds on for a bumpy ride. When the car finally stops it seems to be in the middle of nowhere and her mother takes the twins out of the car to meet a strange man mumbling something about their daddy.

Things go wrong out there though and when Remmi confronts her mother she still refuses to give any answers. Was Remmi’s mother trying to sell one of her siblings to the stranger? And then when her mother doesn’t return home sixteen year old Remmi finds herself with a baby and no where to go.

Liar, Liar by Lisa Jackson begins with an exciting moment in the present before taking readers back twenty years in the first part to set the story before returning to the present. The majority of the story is told from Remmi’s point of view although occasionally it does switch. For me this one was an alright read but I wouldn’t exactly call it gripping or a real page turner. It’s one that sort of lacks the sense of urgency which in turn doesn’t end up being quite as gripping as I’d like. Not bad overall but just one that is alright to pass the time but somewhat forgettable when done.
